Yes, we have a commercial interest in JPEG2000…but at the same time, we’re a bunch of honest guys who want to educate and facilitate discussion about the JPEG2000 standard. The moderators include Jeff Brooks and Chris Komnick, two principals in BroadMotion and evangelists for the format. When we are stumped on an issue we’ll talk to Rick Wang, our CTO and resident JPEG2000 expert.

Our objective with this blog is to provide a venue by which to objectively (and subjectively) discuss the JPEG2000 format. It is our observation that many people either don’t know about JPEG2000 or are misinformed about the format. Given the amount of noise concerning various image and video formats, we endeavor to clear up the confusing and provide accurate insight as to why and when JPEG2000 is an appropriate format for consideration.
